Back to earth with a bump at the Windsor RFC festival!

A massive thank you to all the parents that supported us for our challenging (and at times complicated) festival at Windsor RFU last Sunday. We are all learning as we go along, be that the children and their rugby skills, or the coaching team and their on-the-day organisation. Suffice to say, we have now learned that running four teams is more than twice as complicated as two teams and that all tournaments are not equally well organised. Nevertheless, Sunday was great fun and we hope that those children and parents enjoying festivals for the first time are keen to sample the excitement of competitive rugby against real opposition again soon. You'll only have to wait until the weekend!

Overall the opposition's rugby was of a higher standard than at Beaconsfield the preceding week and this is backed up by the results. Our young superstars had to dig deep in all the matches and I was very pleased to see the discipline and commitment of the teams even when individual games had gone beyond their grasp. We also saw great teamwork and evidence of real leadership emerging - all added benefits of a good childhood grounding in this most excellent of sports. The results read as follows:

Sharks: P5 W0 D0 L5
Tigers: P5 W2 D1 L2
Eagles: P5 W1 D1 L3
Cobras: P5 W1 D2 L2

While all of the players performed magnificently in both attack and defence, two individuals deserve special mention for their try scoring exploits by hitting double figures for the festival. A massive well done to Ben Farr (12 tries) and Elliot Ross (11 tries). If you have any photos or videos please upload these to the WhatsApp feed as I'd like to put the best ones on the club website.

Next week we have five teams playing in our home tournament *deep breath* so we will be adding a Scorpions team to the four that played last week.
