Chiltern kept up their 100% record in the league so far with a good win against Banbury away

Amersham & Chiltern 3XV's second league match of the season was away to Banbury.

Within the first 5 minutes Chiltern had good territory in the Banbury half. From the back of the breakdown Ed Jones saw an opportunity to pass wide to Jack Davidson on the wing who put in a clever chip past his winger to setup his brother Ally for the first try.
Mark Day missed the conversion from out wide.

The second try again came from Chiltern's pressure and put them 10 metres out from the opposition line. A brilliant lineout straight off the top was passed out first phase to the backs, Jamie Fenton passing behind the centres to Mark Day who weaved his way through to score Chiltern's second try. Mark converted his own try.

Banbury converted a penalty in front of the posts to make it 12-3.

There was time for one more try before half time. Banbury's full back was breaking out of his half when an incredible hit from Jamie Horton spilled the ball forward for Jack Davidson to run through and score under the posts.
Mark Day converted.
Banbury had a yellow card just before half time for talking back to the referee.

HT 19-3

Chiltern had the upper hand for the first 10 minutes after half time but couldn't convert the pressure into points. This in turn allowed Banbury to build up momentum and find themselves in the Chiltern half for a sustained period of time.
Brilliant defence from the whole team held out Banbury from scoring and special credit to Luke Donnebaum and Colm Gilhooly who took big hits to keep the tries conceeded to 0.

Finally Chiltern cleared their lines and were back in the opposition's 22. From a breakdown just inside Banbury's half, Ed Jones picked up from the base of the ruck and cut his way through the opposition showing brilliant pace and skill to evade numerous defenders to score Chiltern's fourth try.
Mark Day had his conversion charged down.

The fourth try secured the bonus point and put Chiltern top of the league.

FT 24-3

A slight feeling of frustration that Chiltern couldn't add more tries in the second half but a good win away from home and important to conceed no more than 3 points.
