Amersham & Chiltern 3XV (63) v (0) Berkhamstead 1XV
With the 3XV currently top of the table and a chasing pack of teams still in the running, this was a big game. With the league possibly coming down to points difference we knew we had to post a decent score against Berkhamstead.
-
Dan Kinsey was man of the match converting all 9 of our tries to ensure that every point on offer was secured and led an attacking line that were well organised in defence.
-
Tries were from: Jamie Gordon x 2, Ed Wainwright, Andy Grant, Ed Green, Mike Whitty, Matt Neill, Phil John and Josh Walton.
-
The platform was set by the forwards winning scrum and lineout ball cleanly and Chiltern enjoyed long periods of possession. The backs ran aggressively and exploited the wide positions and gaps and the forwards powered down the middle. It was a clinical performance and when Berkhamstead did threaten our line there was committed resistance to preserve the clean sheet.
-
Throughout the season the 3XV have been a mix of ages and it was the same today, a great team performance and great team spirit. We now await the match between Cuffley and Hitchin on 9th April to find out if we have done enough to be champions.

The 3XV change focus to the Merit cup competition which starts this Saturday away to OMTs, at the moment the League and Cup double is still on !
