Chiltern welcomed Witney to Weedon Lane for the final match of the season. Playing on the 1xv pitch with plenty of support and in perfect conditions produced and entertaining high scoring match in which the home team came out winners 45-17.
Chiltern started well in were 7-0 up within the first minute after some fast handling across the team gave space for Steve Wiggill to beat two defenders and score under the posts, converted by Tom Smalley 7-0.
It was then the forwards who took control and scored after a strong drive, converted again by Tom Smalley 14-0.
Witney under pressure, Chiltern were awarded a penalty inside the opposition 22 and quick thinking from both Ted Reus and Tom Smalley beating numerous defenders gave Chiltern their third try, the conversion missed from out wide 19-0.
The scoreline echoed the previous encounter when Chiltern raced ahead into the lead and then finished in a draw 37-37 so the key message was keep focus.
Witney to their credit wanted to use the ball and had two quick wingers who were finding space throughout the first half, they produced some quick hands in midfield and their left winger raced in to score in the corner, the conversion missed 19-5.
Just before half time Chiltern scored again started by a strong break from Tom Wood, supported by Luke Donnebaum and finished well by Henry Bowcock to score under the posts, converted by Tom Smalley 26-5.

Chiltern again started well and produced two further tries showing good patience in attack, the first was well worked through the phases and finished by Steve Wiggill who had too much pace for the covering defence, converted by Tom Smalley 33-5.
The next showed great control from the team and finished by man of the match Steve Wiggill to score his hat-trick, converted by Tom Smalley 40-5.
Witney themselves then exerted pressure and were rewarded with a penalty try to make the score 40-12.
Chiltern’s last try of the afternoon was scored by Tom Fletcher who supported well following a series of offloads throughouth the team, the conversion was missed out wide 45-12.
The last try of the game went to Witney who scored on the blind side from the base of the scrum, Chiltern will feel they should have done more to prevent it, the conversion missed and the final score was a convincing home win 45-17.
