Amersham & Chiltern turned up with the aim of winning this tough away fixture but fell well short and credit to Oxford Harlequins who were well drilled and controlled the game throughout.
Within 5 minutes Chiltern had given away two penalties and found themselves on their line defending a lineout from 5 metres. Oxford Harlequins' catch & drive was effective and they had their first try on the board, the conversion from out wide was missed so the score 0-5.
Another penalty against Chiltern and the impressive OH fly half slotted the kick to make the score 0-8.
Chiltern were down to 14 for 10 minutes when the referee sent Gareth Wehrle to the bin for repeated team infringements at the breakdown, a team yellow.
Chiltern tried to get back into the match but couldn't keep the ball for long enough and the space was well shut down by a physical OH team.
After 30 minutes Chiltern had a scrum in their 22 which was turned and the OH no.8 picked up from the base and crashed over, conversion successful to make the score 0-15.
HT 0-15
It was always going to be tough to get back into the match at 0-15 down but for all their efforts Chiltern were again on the receiving end of a try 5 minutes into the second half.
The most impressive of the OH tries was the third, starting on halfway with their 10 who offloaded out of the tackle which was followed by three more offloads to score under the posts, the conversion successful 0-22.
In the next 20 minutes OH had 2 men yellow carded but Chiltern still couldn't get back into the match against a well organised home team who deserved their win. Credit to OH were impressive throughout dominating the breakdown area and physical battle.
