First XV vs. Fullerians Match report

This was a disjointed and ultimately frustrating performance which saw, mid table Watford side, Fullerians comfortably defeat an out of sorts Chiltern side.

Chiltern struggled to win consistent good quality possession although the quality of their backline and the superb place kicking of outside half Stuart Pearham kept them in the game in the first half.

It was a frenetic opening quarter with Fullerians going ahead after 10 minutes only to be pegged back by Chiltern as Ollie Choules scored a try converted by Pearham.

Inexplicably Chiltern’s handling was well below the standard that they have shown this season and they regularly conceded both territory and possession to Fullerians who took full advantage to score 3 more good tries in the first half. Chiltern in turn responded with three penalties from Pearham and a try for Lloyd Anderson which was converted and which left the score 28–23 to Fullerians at half-time.

A surfeit of penalties against both sides in the second half to a progressively disjointed game but two more tries for Fullerians against one by Jordan Scott led to an emphatic victory for the home side.

The boys can now look forward to a week’s break which will be very welcome.

The next game will be at home against Colchester on 25 November, kick off 2.30pm and will be preceded by a lunch to thank the numerous sponsors who support the club.
