Defibrillators save lives

Defibrillators save lives

We have now installed an Automatic Emergency Defibrillator (AED) in the A&C clubhouse.

It’s wall mounted in the main room of the clubhouse near to the door to the changing rooms. A defibrillator is a machine that delivers an electric shock to the heart when someone is having a cardiac arrest.

According to the British Heart Foundation
“Acting quickly when someone is in cardiac arrest and fighting for their life is crucially important - every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces their chances of survival by 10%."

The defibrillator itself is fully automatic, ready-charged and gives clear voice instructions to tell the user exactly what to do. You do not need any training to use it.

However, the more familiar one is with a defibrillator the faster one can react. So, please take a few minutes to view the video which gives an overview of how the defibrillator works.
