About the team

Welcome to the 2023/24 U16 rugby season at Amersham & Chiltern.

Our focus is on ensuring that all the boys have fun whilst maintaining a strong competitive environment. Training is from 12:15 - 13:45 every Sunday from 03 September through to May. We also have a mid-week session from 18:30 - 19:30 every Thursday on the Training Pitch. Session times and dates however are subject to change, so please take the time to download the club app and refer to the U16 team page for latest dates & times.

This year, we will be playing in both the Bucks County Cup and Division 1 of the Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire League. We will also arrange some friendly matches to ensure that the whole squad have opportunities to play in competitive matches.

If you need any further information, please contact the U16 head coach at jontemps@gmail.com

A number of our coaches have completed the England Rugby Coaching Level 2 Course.

Our training priorities for this season will be:

  • Maintain an inclusive approach for all players and parents, and promote an environment of enjoyable, fun rugby
  • Ensure that the players have a high standard of fitness
  • Teach all players how to play the 15-a-side game safely and effectively, particularly in contact
  • Development of all our players

We commit that all players will get at least half a game and we will be adhering to RFU guidance as well as Government Coronavirus (Covid-19) Guidelines.

Currently, we have around 35 players in our age group and would welcome any boys who are in school year 11 to come along and join our fun and talented age group. Many of our coaching staff are parents of playing children and we aim to have fun as well as help our players develop their playing skills.

Our priorities for this season will be:
- Player centred; All decisions will be made based on the wants and needs of the player
- Player welfare and safety remains as the primary focus; Ensuring our players stay safe
- On-going research and insight from players to ensure the game is aligned to their wants and needs
- Comply with RFU return to rugby guidelines
- Ensuring that we develop all basic rugby skills for all players
- Ensuring that the players have a high standard of fitness
- Teaching all players how to play the 15-a-side game safely and effectively, particularly in the contact area
- Continuing our inclusive approach and promoting an environment of enjoyable, fun rugby for all
- Raising awareness of and following the concussion protocols
- We commit that all players will get at least half a game

Hope you all have a fun and rewarding season
