We enjoyed a great training session last Sunday despite the drop in temperature and the noticeable deterioration in the pitches. The children continue to develop their rugby skills as well as their 'game awareness". We have all seen the fantastic improvements as a result of introducing festival rugby which has given great focus to so many of the group. These are most obvious in the basic attacking and defending skills; evasive running, support play, passing and tagging. Our focus is now shifting to some more technical aspects of the game to compliment these simple disciplines. These include both attacking and defensive subtleties which will maintain the trajectory of development we have seen since the start of the season; quick ball through (i) early passing, (ii) to the nearest team mate, (iii) before replacing tags, defensive cooperation and observing the offside law by retreating onside at the breakdown.
Our amazing players of the week were Zach, Alexander and Tag, all of whom showed the coaches what great listeners they are. As Ruben says, great listeners make great players! Here is a professional quality photograph from our new team photographer, Alistair Peel. Bravo!
