U12s win Windsor Tournament

Windsor Tournament
1. Beat Bracknell 4-0
2. Beat Rosslyn Park 3-1
3. Beat Ealing 4-1
4. Beat Henley 2-0
5. Final – beat Windsor 2-0

As you can see from the results, our stress levels never reached panic mode, we won all our games by at least a two try margin. Considering the teams we played, and bearing in mind our previous results against them, this was an awesome display.
We were too strong for Bracknell in our opening match, but the level of our performance then hit the highs against Rosslyn Park and Ealing. I asked the boys to strike fear into these two teams, who we previously had not beaten, and did they deliver. The first half vs Rosslyn was aggressive, clinical, and great to watch. We took our foot off in the second half a bit but the game was won. The Ealing match for me was the highlight of the day, rewind a year and we were beaten 4-0 by this team. We got off to the worst possible start with Ealing’s rapid outside centre scoring his umpteenth try against us over the years. Heads did not drop, eyes only narrowed as if to say – that is the last time! That lad never had more than a foot of space the rest of the game.
The pack rampaged forward creating wonderful ball for the backs, who ran great lines and converted our opportunities into tries. It was without doubt the performance of the day, as we scored four unanswered tries to win in some style. The Henley win was less style and more grit. We did not play ourbest but still found a way to win with two tries from a great kick on our own line and a timely interception. Finals tend not to be great spectacles, and this was probably no exception. It was a hard fought contest with good defence throughout. Our forwards dominated possession, as they had done all day,and our backs found enough space to score two tries. The trophy was won – fantastic! There were of course some wonderful individual performances, but to name them would be unfair on the rest, because this was some team effort – we won all the key battles on the pitch.
