On a cold, muddy and windy Sunday, A&C were given a tough lesson by a well drilled Beaconsfield side.
The tone was set in the first few minutes with an early try by Beaconsfield. They continued to dominate territory with A&C rarely getting out of our own half. It was quickly 0-12 following a pacey attack down their left wing. Beaconsfield then drove over the line for a further converted try, taking it to 0-19.
Twenty minutes into the match and A&C started to put together some competitive phases in the midfield and held on to half-time.
The second half started with A&C showing more aggression and speed in their rugby, playing more in Beaconsfield territory and threatening.
A&C pushed forward with multiple phases over possession, leading to a try under the posts by Tyron Porteous: 7-19!
But it was to be a short-lived recovery. Beaconsfield were just too good today, regularly turning the ball over at the breakdown, quicker with their passing, pressuring in the scrum and ruthless with their kicking,
A converted try by Beaconsfield made it 7-26 after 15 minutes of the second half. Another followed to make it 7-33. And then another to end the match at 7-40.
We battled to the end and it was great to see how gracious we were in defeat. We will have learned a lot from this match.
