The full Amersham & Chiltern U14s squad enjoyed another close fought contest with local rivals Tring over 3 x 25 minute 3rds

First 3rd

With the A&C Saxons (+ 3 1st team) taking to the field first, the initial battle for control saw Tring with most possession, which they eventually converted into 2 tries, before A&C fought back in two great spells of running the ball through the forwards which saw George Williams and then Joshua Fisher bring the match back even. Tring then came back stronger scoring another 3 tries despite stern resistance to lead 5 tries to 2.

Second 3rd

The A&C Saxons (+ 3 1st team) started the second 3rd with more urgency and battled well against an improving Tring side although they did concede another 2 tries scoring one of their own through Sammy Sinclair in the first 15 minutes, before the majority of first team players were introduced from the bench. The introduction of A&Cs more experienced players resulted in a shift in possession leading to 2 further tries from Sammy Sinclair supported by 1 from Edward Batchelor, to bring A&C within 1 try of Tring at 7 tries to 6 at the end of the second 3rd.

Final 3rd

Amersham & Chiltern started the final 25 mins with a full 1st team plus George Williams at prop and started to move the ball through the forwards and then quickly out to the backs, scoring 2 tries to take the lead before Tring equalised with a well worked cross kick. This set up a tense final 5 minutes, which saw A&C finding a series of line breaks to score 3 unanswered tries to make the final score 67 v 48.

Top try scorer was Sammy Sinclair with 3 supported by Edward Batchelor 2, Joshua Fisher 2 and George Williams, Saajan Jassy, Piers Lane and Jacob Avis with 1 try each. Raphy Weatherall kicking 6 conversions.

Special mention to George Williams and Tom Wingrove for playing a part in all three 3rds in the front row, supported by Xavier Currill and Freddie Chhabra.

A big thank you to Andy Williams for refereeing.
