Congratulations to The Amersham & Chiltern U14s squad for completing a high scoring away victory over local rivals Aylesbury RFC in a match played over 3 x 25 minute sessions.
The First 3rd was played by each side's strongest selection, with A&C opening the scoring in the first minute after capitalising on a number of defensive mistakes, the match then became a very close battle, with both side applying pressure to their opponents line before a knock-on was seized upon by Sammy Sinclair who broke free to score A & C's second try. Once again Aylesbury came back strongly, however they were held out by determined defence before A&C added a third through Saajan Jassy.
In the second 3rd the match opened up as both teams introduced players from the bench. To start with A&C benefitted scoring 3 tries before Aylesbury stormed back into the match scoring 3 tries of their own.
This set up a tense final 3rd with A&Cs bench all on the field, Aylesbury scored another 3 tries, to set up a grandstand finish, before A&C rallied to score the final try through Edward Batchelor to seal the victory.
Special mention to Tommy Richardson, who started the match and played well throughout, a great tackle from Charlie Cronly at a key moment in the final 3rd kept A&C with a two score lead, plus great to see the return of Ben Gale who featured in some great attacking runs and Freddie Chhabra who chopped Aylesbury’s free running No5 down to size on numerous occasions.
Serge Fox was top try scorer with 2 tries supported by Saajan Jassy, Sammy Sinclair, Alex O'Driscoll, Joshua Fisher, Jacob Avis, Tommy Richardson and Edward Batchelor with 4 conversions from Raphy Weatherall.
