Stylish 6 try display on the 'front lawn' at HQ gets the 3XV season going !

Match Report by Doug Smith

The key moments and performances of note as follows:
Only having the choice of playing on the 1s pitch because of the Mini's festival, and not being able to use CR1 for the same reason.
Jamie Gordon and his brother Luke Gordon playing together for the first time ever.
Harri Doyle returning for his first Senior Game since a shoulder injury 3 seasons ago.
Pencil playing for Chiltern again since his Prodigal return.
Doug Smith and Dan Kinsey as Capt and VC for nearly 2 years.
The average age of the team being roughly 40 with 8 of the team being over 40.
12 of the 18 players played for the 4XV at least once in the seasons 2010-2015.

Gibo put the players through a solid warm up and managed the build up to the game expertly.
Sam Allen had a good game in the scrums especially, but also in the Lineout lifting at 1 and rumbled over for a try as well. MoM performance.
Edd Hedley deftly popped the pass from the floor for the Sam Allen try. Also solid in set pieces
Chris Tavender arrived in his usual time , 30 mins before kick off. Put the beef into the pack.
Pencil as lineout captain came up with our lineout moves and we thrived on our own ball, and pinched a couple of theirs too. Was a powerhouse in the scrums.
Doug Smith would have played 80 minutes for sure if the Hemel 6 hadn't cracked our heads open.
Pete Porter was man of the match for the 2s the other week and produced another robust, rumbling appearance for the 3s
Simon Thomas having said he wasn't available found he was available at midday on Saturday, so turned up and started!
Luke Donnebaum had concerns about this being a week too early returning from injury, luckily he was there to finish off the Scrum's 2 push over tries.
Paul Sitzberger has been in training over the summer and the fitness showed spinning the ball into Dan Kinsey's hands all day. Some useful booming kicks as well.
Dan Kinsey kicked 5/6 conversions which is high ! But his boot was on fire all afternoon and used the kicking game well to put pressure on their back 3. Scored a try under the posts which was popped by Pencil who was unlucky to have to give up this gift of a try to someone else.
Rich Gazzard was man of the match against Finsbury playing 9 but got his hands on the ball out wide regularly to go on a few jinking runs and scored a great individual try
Phil John played an unselfish role ensuring the ball got out wide when it needed too and ran an organised defensive line. He was the Hemel Man of the Match choice.
Stef Treloar is another 9 playing out of position and appeared to be the regular crash ball option, linked well
Darren Wilson plenty of ball out wide and good link play between the back 3 , picked up a dead leg in the second half and after rolling off the pitch had to roll back on again to stop the game , only then to have to roll off again.
Jamie Gordon playing in his new position of choice at fullback he joined the line at will, scored a try but also covered everything kicked deep.
Neil Aves came on for the injured Doug Smith at half time and enjoyed twice as many scrums as in the first half
Harri Doyle coming back from a shoulder injury came on for his Seniors return after 50 minutes and was quick to the breakdowns and had a few carries
Luke Gordon as brother of the renowned 4XV winger of old Jamie Gordon , this was his Chiltern debut as well as a brothers debut. Tackled bravely and combined brilliantly with Jamie in what should have been a try.
