Chiltern take 5 points to keep them at the top of BBO2

Windsor arrived at Weedon Lane high on confidence having won their last four matches in a row.

A big day for the club with the arrival of the Red Devils and looking to avenge a 39-0 defeat before Christmas Chiltern were more than ready for the challenge.

It was Chiltern who struck first and they scored within the opening minute of the match after good work from the pack, Tom Cottrell stormed over to make the score 5-0. The conversion was missed

Windsor found their way into the game and after a break from their impressive full back this setup an attack for their captain and centre to cross the line. The conversion was successful making it 7-5.

Chiltern struck again just before half time. The Windsor wing was yellow carded for a deliberate trip on Michael Brothers which gave the home team good field position. After a few phases Chiltern were awarded another penalty which was taken quickly by Michael Brothers who scored and Phil John converted.

HT 12-7

Chiltern started the second half much like the first; a brilliant steal from Ed Jones showing pace and foot work to get into the windsor 22 passed the ball inside and found Josh Davies who leapt like a salmon to collect the pass and score. The conversion from Phil John was again successful

Windsor spent long periods in the Chiltern 22 and the pressure was building when their captain lost his cool and got yellow carded in turn reversing the penalty to Chiltern and allowed them to clear their lines.

With about 10 minutes to it took a moment of magic to seal the win for Chiltern. After a loose pass from the Windsor winger, Jack Davidson collected to throw a reverse pass to Josh Davies who raced in from halfway. The conversion was missed but the 4 try bonus point was secured

Credit to Windsor who kept applying the pressure; a speculative chip over the top wasn’t dealt with by Chiltern and the ball bounced up kindly for the Windsor winger who finished well.

In the final minute of the game with a 1 on 1 chase Jack Davidson was red carded for a trip. Windsor had the final move of the game but were held over the game and Chiltern held on for an important win.
