End to end 11 try match

After a month with no game due to the weather it was expected Chiltern would be rusty and despite a good win it was closer than they would have liked.

High Wycombe had won 4 out of their last 5 games and sat in third going into the game and brought a physical team who were strong in the set piece and driving maul.

An entertaining first half of 6 tries saw Chiltern take a 19-0 lead 20 minutes into the match; Michael Brothers scored a good solo try, Tom Wood finished well after a good final pass from Ally Davidson and Luke Donnebaum crashed over from a tap penalty 5 metres out. Two conversions were successful from Michael Brothers.

Unfortunately Tristan Lothian on his first game back for 3 months sustained another shoulder injury and we wish him a speedy recovery in time for next season.

High Wycombe had the edge in the scrum and the driving maul and started to use this to their advantage. They followed up with two tries of their own making the score 19-10.

Just before half time High Wycombe received a yellow card and with a strong wind to their advantage Chiltern scored their fourth try, scored by Tom Wood. The conversion successful for Michael Brothers.

HT 26-10

The second half was end to end due to various injures and another yellow card for High Wycombe.

Wycombe struck first; a strong run and numerous missed tackles from Chiltern allowed the away team to close the gap to 26-15.

Another yellow card for Wycombe, this time their no.8 for a trip allowed Chiltern to use the one man advantage and capitalised with a good team try, finished very well by Johnny Rice. Conversion successful making the score 33-15.

Credit to High Wycombe who kept taking the game to Chiltern scored again 33-20. Chiltern were now down to 14 men due to injuries and did enough to keep High Wycombe at bay for the last 10 minutes.

Tom Wood sealed his hat trick with a brilliant individual run, picking the ball up in his own half and scoring under the posts. Converted by Michael Brothers.

High Wycombe had the final say and scored the last try of the game to make the final score 40-27.
