Top of the table clash

Chiltern 3xv hosted Bletchley 2xv in a much anticipated top of the table clash. Bletchley who had led the league for the majority of the season were one point behind in the league table and arrived full of confidence.
In an exciting match Chiltern came out on top scoring 7 tries in the process.

The opening 10 minutes were spent in Chiltern's half and they had to soak up a lot of pressure after conceding numerous penalties and free kicks. Excellent defence prevented Bletchley from capitalising.

Momentum shifted and Chiltern were in the Bletchley half before too long. Bletchley cleared their lines and Chiltern counter attacked well spreading the ball wide to Mark Day who stepped the three defenders in front of his to race over in the corner. The conversion was missed.

The second try was a scrum to Bletchley 5 metres from their own line and good pressure from Michael Brothers forced a loose pass and he touched down to take the score to 10-0. The conversion was missed.

Bletchley replied with a try of their own to keep the game tight. 10-5. Conversion was missed

In reply, Chiltern were awarded a penalty and Jake Cutter successfully converted. There was also time just before the break for Chiltern to add to their lead with a great miss pass stretching the Bletchley backs and Josh Davies broke the line to pass off to Ally Davidson who scored. The conversion missed

HT 18-5

As expected Bletchley came out fired up for the second half but it was Chiltern who truck first. A brilliant dart from Michael Brothers from the back of the scrum to beat numerous players and secure Chiltern the bonus point. The conversion was missed

A good individual try from the Bletchley full back kept them within touching distance. The score now 23-10.

The last 25 minutes fitness paid off and Chiltern ran in a further 3 tries to kill off any Bletchley comeback. Jake Cutter, Johnny Rice and Jack Davidson each finished off three fantastic team tries. Jake Cutter converting two of them to make the final score 44-12.

FT 44-12

A very good performance from the whole team and congratulations to Jake Cutter who on his second senior appearance claimed the Man of the Match award for a fine all round performance.

Mark Day suffered an unfortunate injury to his shoulder and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Chiltern have a league break next week and then travel to Drifters away the following week.
