After three weeks without a game chiltern sufferred a dose of reality.
Guilty of over confidence from having won every game so far Amersham were in for a long afternoon; Drifters presented a well drilled team who had the edge in every area of the field.
Amersham were on the back foot within the first five minutes being driven back on 3 consecutive scrums to concede their first try of seven.
By half time chiltern had conceded 2 further tries and could only reply with one penalty.
One sour note in the first half came when Chiltern fullback Sam Litchfield was punched off the ball by drifters fly half Stu Taylor resulting in a concussion and a broken nose. Neither the referee nor the drifters linesman saw the incident and the player stayed on the field.
HT 21-3
The second half is when Drifters fitness, pace and power really began to show and they pulled away with a further 4 tries continually finding holes throughout the team.
The biggest dissapointment was Chilterns inability to score a single try having had the chance on numerous occassions but were let down by poor decision making.
FT 47-3
Alot of lessons to be learnt from a powerful Drifters team. Chiltern welcome them back to Weedon Lane on 9th February.
