6 try victory over local rivals

Amersham & Chiltern 3xv played their second of three pre season games and secured a good victory against a team who will be competing in the league above them this season.

In contrast to last week Chiltern started well and were ahead early on after some great offloading in the backs from Josh Davies and Tom Hemmings to put Tristan Lothian away for his first of the day. The conversion was added by Ollie Choules.

Beaconsfield hit back soon after with a strong run from their centre creating momentum for their forwards to crash over under the posts. The conversion was added.

With long periods of the first half in the Beaconsfield half the pressure paid off with a scrum 5 metres out from their line and good work from Michael Brothers allowed him to touch down on a loose ball which spilled out the back of the scrum. The conversion was again added by Ollie Choules from the touchline.

HT 14 - 7

Chiltern with a squad of 21 were able to make 6 changes at half time and bring an extra injection of pace to the team for the second half.

Ally Davidson made a brilliant break from the back of the scrum down the right hand side touchline and then quick ball allowed Chiltern to switch the ball to the other side for Jamie Fenton put away Mark Day for Chiltern’s third try of the day. The conversion was missed.

Beaconsfield again came back to within a score after a good lineout drive to go over in the corner. The conversion was missed making the score 19-12.

Chiltern then added their fourth try after some good handling in the backs allowing Tristan Lothian space to finish well and cross over for his second of the afternoon. The conversion was missed.

A real team try followed and Chiltern worked their way up the pitch and Ally Davidson finished well to make the score 29-12. The conversion was missed.

In the last 10 minutes Beaconsfield’s fly half who has played well all game was able to crash through Chiltern’s defence and the momentum was followed up with a try under the posts from their forwards. The conversion was missed.

Chiltern were able to have the last word and after some more great passing in the backs, James Ashton and Josh Davies combined to setup man of the match Tristan Lothian for his hat trick. The conversion was added from the touchline by Josh Davies.
