10 try win for Chiltern

A&C travelled away to Readingensians 3xv looking to push themselves up the table and they produced an excellent performance with free flowing rugby and 10 tries to show for it.

The first half saw the visitors score 5 tries. The first was a pickup from the back of the scrum by debutant Sam Peter, the conversion successful by Ryan Greenstreet 7-0. The second was an outstanding pass out wide from Josh Davies to Pete Johnston who beat his man on the outside to score out wide, conversion missed from the touchline 12-0.

Readingensians then picked up momentum and scored a try of their own with numerous strong runners off of their 10 to crash over, conversion missed 5-0.

Chiltern then re-established their lead with a fine run from captain Josh Davies to score his first of the day, conversion successful by Ryan Greenstreet 19-5. This was followed by two quick tries in succession just before half time; Jack Kenyon and Ryan Greenstreet both making fantastic runs and beating numerous defenders on the way to score, both conversions converted by Ryan Greenstreet to make the half time score 33-5.

HT 33-5

Readingensians started the second half with a penalty to make the score 33-8.

What followed was an extremely open half of rugby with 8 tries scored between both teams. Chiltern’s next came from a delightful chip & collect from Josh Davies who offloaded to Jack Freeman to race down the line and score, conversion missed 38-8.

Readingensians who were effective running off 10 and around the breakdown again replied with another well worked try 38-13, conversion missed.

Chiltern replied after a fine break from Jack Kenyon who set up Josh Davies to score his second, the conversion successful by Ryan Greenstreet 45-13.

Missed tackles from Chiltern again allowed Readingensians back into the game 45-20, conversion successful.

A yellow card from the home side’s centre then gave Chiltern the space to score 3 quick tries; a strong catch & drive finished by Jack Freeman, then Pete Johnston cutting a brilliant line to score his second and Josh Davies finishing off a team try to complete his hat-trick, the first two tries converted 64-20.

The home team had the final say with a fourth try to give them a bonus point, the conversion successful 64-27.

FT 64-27

It was a fine performance by Chiltern in attack but still lots of areas to work on in defence. Next week Chiltern again travel away to play Reading 2xv.
