Chiltern secure the bonus point in the second half

Amersham & Chiltern welcomed Maidenhead to Weedon Lane who sat fourth in BBO1. After a lethargic first half Chiltern did enough after half time to score four tries and secure the bonus point.

Maidenhead opened the scoring after 20 minutes with a pick and go from the back off the scrum finding space on the blind side and scoring in the corner. The conversion was missed 0-5

Chiltern quickly got on the scoresheet with a penalty converted by Ryan Greenstreet 3-5.

For the first time in the game Chiltern took the lead after a nice chip from Josh Davies put the pressure on Maidenhead in their 22 followed up by a very good chase and tackle from Toly Sark-Geissler. The resulting ruck was a turnover for Chiltern and Josh Davies picked up and scored his first try of the afternoon. The conversion was missed making the score 8-5.

Just before half time there was miscommunication within the back three which led to a quick tap penalty catching Chiltern off guard scoring under the posts and converting. Half time score 8-12 to Maidenhead

HT 8-12

It has to be said Chiltern's first half performance was extremely flat and they hadn't even got out of first gear so after a strong half time team talk the team came out firing for the opening 20 minutes of the second half.

Three tries were scored to secure the bonus point; the first was a good team try working through the phases and a final pass from Ryan Greenstreet to Johnny Rice to score in the corner. The conversion was missed 13-12

The third try of the afternoon was a brilliant run from man of the match Josh Davies who took a line just outside of the Maidenhead 22 and sliced through beating numerous defenders to score, the conversion successful 20-12.

The bonus point try was scored by captain Ben Owen who took a quick tap penalty to crash over and score under the posts, the conversion successful 27-12.

With seven minutes to go the Maidenhead scrum half suffered a very nasty injury to his knee which forced the game to finish early.

The good news is that the player is now at home in plaster and we wish him the best of luck in his recovery.
