8 try win against fourth placed Reading

A&C produced their best performance of the season against Reading who had previously won 3 out of their 4 games and sat fourth in the league.

The first 15 minutes Chiltern started well and scored 3 tries to put them 21-0 ahead. The first was a good team try working through the phases finished by Paddy Esson under the posts, the conversion successful by Dan Wood 7-0.

The second, again the team working well through the phases and the final pass was a brilliant offload out of the tackle from Luke Donnebaum to Sam Portland looping round to score, the conversion successful by Dan Wood 14-0.

The third, a lovely chip from Jack Davidson picked up by Ryan Greenstreet to score in the corner, the conversion from Dan Wood making it 21-0.

Chiltern then had to soak up some heavy pressure from Reading and defended their line well with full commitment.

Dan Wood added a penalty 25 minutes in after poor discipline from Reading, 24-0.

Chiltern then scored a further two tries before half time to take control of the match; their fourth try saw some great counter attack running and fine offloading, Ryan Greenstreet making the initial break, passing to Will Browne who passed to Sam Portland stepping around his man and offloading to Dan Wood who finally offloaded to Johnny Rice to score in the corner. The conversion was missed to make the score 29-0.

The fifth try of the game started in Chiltern’s half, a brilliant step and line break from Jack Davidson, supported well by Sam Portland who ran half the length of the pitch to score under the posts, the conversion slotted by Dan Wood to make the half time score 36-0.

HT 36-0

The second half, Chiltern produced three more impressive tries; their sixth of the match was a clever grubber kick through from Sam Portland and Dom Rice won the foot race to touch down and score, Dan Wood adding the conversion 43-0.

Chiltern’s seventh try was a very good sniping run from man of the match Ted Reus who controlled the game throughout and touched down just wide of the post, the conversion from Dan Wood taking the home team to 50-0.

The last try was passed wide to Sam Portland who offloaded well out of the tackle to Johnny Rice to score in the corner, the conversion was missed making the final score 55-0.

A very good team performance and well done to all involved.
