Good result pushes Chiltern up to 6th

A return to BBO1 for the 2xv and an away trip to Buckingham. Not the full performance wanted but the result was good giving Chiltern 5 points away from home pushing them up a couple of places up the league table.

The opening 20 minutes was mostly played in the Buckingham half and the pressure in turn turned into points when they were awarded a penalty converted well by Ollie Choules. 3-0 to Chiltern

In the Buckingham 22 and the first try came after a big tackle in midfield from Max Fischer; the ball spilled and picked up well by Harry Bartlett who fed Nick Ogbonna to finish in the corner. The conversion missed, 8-0

30 minutes into the match and a strong break by Caleb Jenkins sparked an attack, he then offloaded to Will Browne who finished under the posts, converted by Ollie Choules 15-0.

Momentum then shifted back to the home team. A scrum 5 metres out from the Chiltern line and the Buckingham no.8 picked up to crash over for their opening try, converted making the score 15-7.

It's worth mentioning the Chiltern openside Harry Bartlett was held in the scrum illegally which explains how the Buckingham no.8 ghosted through unchallenged, something missed by the referee but the try stood regardless.

Within a minute Chiltern lost the ball in contact on halfway, the ball was fly hacked down the pitch and picked up by the winger to score to Chiltern's disbelief, conversion missed 15-12.

It was tough to understand how in a half which Chiltern dominated possession and territory they went in only 3 points ahead at the break.

HT 15-12

Chiltern started the second half well and went on to score four more tries.

The first a great team try with great passing between forwards and backs, Paddy Esson scoring under the posts, Ryan Greenstreet converted 22-12.

The next saw another good try scored, Chiltern used the width well with Ryan Greenstreet making a lovely break finished by man of the match Callum Reid-Jones who was everywhere in attack and defence. The conversion successful making the score 27-12.

Despite great defence from Chiltern, Buckingham's effective pick and go around the breakdown paid off and they crashed over under the posts, converted to make the score 27-19.

Chiltern again responded well and a nice half break from Ollie Choules passed to Caleb Jenkins who setup Max Fischer to score, conversion missed 32-19.

The final try was a well worked backs move with Tom Wood coming off his wing to slice through the Buckingham defence, the conversion successful by Ryan Greenstreet making the final score 39-19.

Both Bodie Deane and debutant Harry Bartlett suffered injuries and we wish them speedy recoveries.
