BBO1 newcomers show their class

A&C welcomed Bracknell 2xv to Weedon Lane expecting a difficult fixture and so it proved against a strong and experienced team. Bracknell having joined from the Zoo Sports Shield showed their strength and control to take the bonus point win.

The first try was within the first minute of the game when Ryan Greenstreet received the ball out wide and outpaced the Bracknell backs out wide to score in the corner. Ollie Choules converted very well from the touchline to make the score 7-0.

Bracknell quickly got into the game when they turned over a Chiltern lineout, went through their phases and stretched the home team to score out wide, the conversion successful 7-7.

Ollie Choules then converted a penalty for Chiltern to edge ahead 10-7 inside the first 15 minutes.

Chiltern had control but then kicked the ball away to the Bracknell back three which they ran back confidently and built up into the Chiltern 22. Their classy scrum half then picked up from the base of the ruck and sniped through to score under the posts, conversion successful 10-17.

The final say of the first half was a penalty to Bracknell which they converted well making the half time score 10-20.

HT 10-20

Minutes into the second half Bracknell scored early on to take the score to 10-27.

Chiltern's life was then made even harder when Ed Jones was yellow carded for an illegal tackle, so Chiltern down to 14 men and Bracknell kicked the resulting penalty to push ahead into a 10-30 lead.

Chiltern actually stepped up a gear and went through the phases well to get into the Bracknell 22 until a loose pass allowed the Bracknell winger to almost run a length of the pitch try only to be chased down very well by Ryan Greenstreet who stopped the player short.
The resulting pressure allowed the away side to retain possession, go through their patterns and score well out wide to make the score 10-37.

The result aside the last 10 minutes were very pleasing from a Chiltern point of view which showed good fitness and mental strength to score the last two tries of the match.

The first a good break from scrum half Jack Davidson who was tackled just short of the line, the ball picked up by Perez Jack who scored and converted well by Ollie Choules to make the score 17-37.

Within 5 minutes it was the move of the game for the home side, a penalty inside the 22 which was passed out through the backs with some lovely hands and Ryan Greenstreet to score in the far side corner, converted by Ollie Choules 24-37.

Despite Chiltern's late efforts to get back into the match the final say went to Bracknell who slotted a penalty to make the final score 24-40.

Its very tough to accept a loss at home but you have to give credit where credit is due and Bracknell were a very well drilled, organised and committed team who fully deserved their win.

It was very pleasing to welcome back Will Reynolds playing his first game for the club in 4 years aswell as three new caps for Ziana Alexis, Elliott Speed and Nick Ogbonna who all had strong debuts.
