Rejuvenated team picks up a bonus point win despite a horror show second half

Following disappointing away defeats in their last 2 fixtures, Chiltern 2XV returned to Weedon Lane and blew away Windsor in the first half to ensure they remained unbeaten at Home for the season.

Much better availability allowed Chiltern to name a stronger team than recent weeks and it showed when Chiltern managed to cross over 6 times in the first half. Chiltern dominated at the set piece and all other aspects to make sure of the result by half time. A yellow card for Chiltern 5 minutes before half time meant a strong start was required when play resumed.

However, whatever was said at half-time (which your reporter was present for) clearly wasn't taken onboard and Chiltern went to pot! Windsor came out to play some quick, front foot rugby and crossed twice in quick succession. Chiltern did respond but then conceded again to make the second half score 15-7 to Windsor.

The final 15 minutes of the game lurched from one scrum to another, as each team failed to hold on to the ball for more than 30 seconds at a time. Chiltern eventually put a few phases together and had the last say by scoring through the (previously butter-handed) backs.

A convincing final score of 50-15 to Chilts, meaning they remain 3rd in the league, 1 point behind Maidenhead in 2nd place.

Chiltern have one final trip away to Witney, which they need to win with a try bonus point to have any chance of snatching 2nd place from Maidenhead. Maidenhead have a game in hand but host Bracknell next week before a very tough trip to likely league champions Chinnor on the 8th April.

A final thanks go to the great crowd that cheered the lads on following the conclusion of the 1st team fixture!
