Buckingham 1xv have too much class on the day

Chiltern travelled to Buckingham for their Bucks Cup Quarter Final, a repeat of last year’s final. On the day Buckingham’s class shone through and Chiltern 2xv didn’t quite have enough to compete.

Two early tries from Buckingham gave them the lead which were traded with two penalties for Chiltern 6-14.

Buckingham received a yellow card just before half time to give Chiltern a way back into the match but they couldn’t exploit the extra man.

Five minutes into the second half Chiltern then received a yellow card of their own. Buckingham then stepped up a gear and their powerful centre burst through the Chiltern defence and he offloaded to their winger to score under the posts, conversion successful 6-21.

For all of Chiltern’s efforts they just couldn’t find the final pass in the Buckingham 22.

Buckingham then started to find space out wide and their winger sliced through to score out wide, conversion missed and then their centre again broke through the defence to pass off for their winger to score his hat trick, conversion successful 6-33.

Buckingham once again received a yellow card with 10 minutes to go and finally Chiltern got the try they deserved. Quick ball and a lovely offload from Gus Pollard to Dom Rice who scored under the posts, the drop goal conversion rushed and missed so the final score was 11-33.

Credit to Chiltern who kept pushing until the end but the difference between a 2xv and 1xv showed and well done to Buckingham who deserved their win. Best of luck to them in the next round.
