Chiltern keep up their winning habit with another bonus point victory

Having narrowly lost in the dying seconds of last weeks’ bottom of the table clash with Ruislip, Saffron Walden were fired up and keen make amends. They fielded quite a mature side, with many hardened warriors, A&C on the other hand had an average age of 23. Both sides started spritely, despite to bitter cold conditions, however, A&C soon found the space and after a sequence of fine hands, Dan Kingsley ran in at the corner. It did not take A&C long to find their stride and again after some swift hands, attacking the wider channels , Lloyd Anderson slipped over, the 1st of his 4 tries on the day. Despite the acute angle, Stuart Pearham landed a fine conversion; 0:12 after 12 mins.

Saffron Walden, then found their form with the ball, but despite some sustained pressure and fine defence by A&C, against the run of play, Anderson broke clear to speed home for his second try. Saffron Walden, were determined to score and ignored plenty of chances to kick points, but with this continuous effort comes errors and A&C soon made them pay. With a fine kick to the corner, the forwards had their moment, as catch and drive, with Joe Batt dotting down. Halftime 0:22

The 3rd quarter of the game saw little action, with both teams deciding to finish with a flourish. Saffron Walden deservedly scored through a strong forward play, soon followed by a fine counter attack taking the score to 12:22 with 5 mins to go. With Saffron Walden dreaming of a come back, A&C woke up and with a fine sequence of hands, Ollie Choules breaks clear, only to off load to Anderson for his 3rd try. Choules took over the kicking duties and landed a fine conversion from wide out. In the dying seconds a brutal run from Anderson, bouncing off 5 tackles walked in under the posts to close the game out 12:36.

Man of the match performances from both Charlie Perkins and Lloyd Anderson.

Don’t forget that that next week sees the BUCKS CUP FINAL v Aylesbury at Weedon Lane kick off 2.00pm
