U17's win on penalty shoot out

After finishing 19-19 at full time, with tries and conversions also level competition rules dictated that the game was to be decided by a sudden death penalty shoot out. Both teams nominated their 10's to take on this challenge. OA's first up from in front of the posts and both 10's succesful with their kicks. Moving to a wider angle and the pressure mounting OA's 10 pulled his kick narrowly wide giving Ollie Choules the opportunity to secure victory. Looking in control, as pictured, Ollie made the kick to the joy of the A&C team and supporters but the obvious disappointed of OA's who had lead the game 19-5 at half time.

OA's were by far the better team in the first half. A&C looking sluggish and making too many unforced errors gifted points and momentum to the opposition.

The second half was a different story, A&C picked up the pace and took the game to OA's. Two converted tries brought the scores level with the momentum now with A&C. The game was now being played in OA's half with A&C looking for the winning score. OA's showing great character and resolve to hold out for the final whistle.

The penalty shoot out was a cruel way to finish an enthralling game that could have gone either way. Congratulations to A&C for their 'never say die' attitdude and commiserations to OA's after getting themselves in what looked a winning position.
