Tribute to past player

Ruth Brockett

Nicholas Warren (1940- 2026)

It is with great sadness that I share the news that past player (1979 - 1986) Nicholas William Warren recently passed away peacefully.

For those who knew him, Nicholas was a devoted father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man of great kindness, strength, and integrity. His gift for friendship, love of banter, passion for music and sport, and a generous spirit will remain with all whose lives he touched.

I had the privilege of inviting Nicholas and his son James back to Amersham and Chiltern for lunch prior to watching the 1st team's efforts on the last day of the season. Nicholas recounted many of his wonderful memories of playing as a galloping left winger for ‘the Chilts ’, with the highlight undoubtedly being at 46 years old scoring his 5 tries in his final match for our glorious 5th Team. We also made sure he had the opportunity to chat with some of the players in the changing room before the big game.

I experienced firsthand his friendship, banter, and love of the sport, and I only wish there had been more time to welcome him back to the rugby club he loved most.

The funeral Mass is being held on Tuesday 25th August 2026 at 11 am. Immaculate Heart of Mary, 23 High Street, Great Missenden, Hp16 9AA. After the service, all are welcome to join the family at Chesham Bois Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, Woodfield Park, Amersham, HP6 5QQ to share memories.

Family flowers only, please. If you would like to remember Nicholas, donations in his memory may be made to Sepsis Research FEAT, a charity he supported: https://nicholaswarren.muchloved.com

Kind Regards

Andy
