Clap Great to see in the first team seven, and in the second team six , recent Old Colts shining last weekend. Our youth rugby is the future of the club.

I made it 9 in the 1st team and 3 of the other older players came through our junior section. As you say Roddy the future of Senior Rugby continues to depend on the quality of our junior coaching. Lets hope we are able to maintain the high standards.

Roddy- Im still not sure you'll beat Roy Jarrold's record of players making the transition Wink

And as someone who has played junior rugby I think it relates to the training pitch discussion going on at the moment. The junior section is important to the club as it instils a loyalty to play for A&C- and whilst there should be some limits to what pitches people train and play on it is important not to develop a them and us mentality at the club between the senior section and junior section....

I think things like the colts coming to senior training when allowed and also coming to the end of season dinner as sponsored by Roddy has all jhelped gel a lot of these players from an early stage (even if they are a bunch of raging alcoholics!)

...so lets just blame the minis and be done with it! See you all on Sat as a temporary old fart!

PS on the same note it would be good to see more of the colts or juniors who are keen (and allowed) wanting to play 3rd and even 2nd team rugby actually putting their hands up....lots of guys, myself included have played from around 17 and learnt some good stuff from senior players in games that are competitive.

I think the fear is that you might get hurt or that you wont be good enough. I can assure you that you will be fitter and probably a lot more skillful than some of the teams we play - colts rugby is lightning. Admittedly James Carty (hope Im spelling that right) may have had a knock on the head but by all accounts he had a fine debut for the Saxons, and Tom Smalley has had great games for the Saxons and the 1st XV. Kenyon junior has also stepped up and if there are any other names Ive forgotten then sorry

Lets get more of these guys involved in a controlled fashion (I appreciate that whilst we have a few injuries some weekends where the lads might want to step up that they have an important cup game coming up this weekend I think so wouldnt be right to poach them) Good luck on Saturday and Sunday

colts who have appeared for me in the saxons are; james carty, tom smalley and matt craggs. All performed very well and i hope that they all want to carry on playing at senior level. Myself, Sam Rigby, Lloyd Powel, Sam Portland, Luke Antos, Will Reynolds all played for the senior teams from the age of 17 onwards. all are still playing at senior level. LET'S GET MORE COLTS INVOLVED LOL Surprised
