After looking in the Bucks Examiner sports pages over the last very succesful few weeks for the club i have noticed there is hardly any mention of A + C! The rugby section is taken up by a big report and pictures of beaconsfield! We have no pictures and very small reports. Even Chesham seem to have a bigger section than us and their not even winning! If the 1s, Saxons and 3s are looking for promotion this season we will need as many players as possible so we can stay up next year. If new potential players move into the area and read the local papers they will be more likly to see Beaconsfield and Chesham rather than us. Chesham have a big banner in Topnotch gym in Chesham promoting their club. Again we have nothing around Amersham promoting A + C. Just a thought. |

Well said Turkish. With the rugby club being so hidden away we need as much promotion as possible to help spread the word - match reports in local newspapers and advertising in local train stations would get my vote. Perhaps the Chairman/President (can never remember who's more important) should phone the bucks examiner and invite them to attend this weekend's 'Top of the Table Clash' home match .

I was on holiday for the first couple of games, but I emailed a full report on last week's games, plus an announcement of the forthcoming vets day tomorrow, with a profile of EPB. Unfortunately, Jill Menghetti was away and her stand-in didn't do it justice. Anyway, I have spoken to her at length today and she will be sending a photographer for the 1st team game tomorrow, plus will do a report on the vets day. I need someone to take some pictures though, as the photographer cannot be there both morning and afternoon. On this track, I need pictures of each game to go with the match report. I was told that Dan's father would be taking these, but I have never received anything. My email address is: adgexpo@aol.com We have tried putting posters all over the area many times in the past. I myself have been round all the pubs, clubs, library, sports centre, schools, etc. The results have not been tangible, however. We even tried putting posters up in the railway station, which cost money and nobody seemed to notice! A couple of years ago we had signs put up at the roundabout by the Boot & Slipper and other locations, risking the wrath of the council, but they only lasted a short time before they were kicked to pieces (probably someone from Chesham RFC!). If someone has any ideas and/or is willing to put up some posters around the place, I have saved artwork for a variety of different ones on my pc which I can run off. andy - you didnt receive the photos as he sent the best one direct to Jill Menghetti but I understand they didnt use it. He has also taken a team photo after the abingdon game, I have them all on a cd. I dont think he will be taking photos every week though!!! |

As a way of recruiting new members, how about the emphasis is placed onto current members (playing and non-playing) to recruit? If some sort of incentive is offered, then maybe current members would be more active in encouraging others up to the club? I know it could be argued that members should want to promote the club to people for the good of their club, but I think you'll find, incentives usually work wonders. I would suggest something along the lines of £5 off the yearly membership fee for each new senior playing member introduced to the club.....possibly with the added competitive incentive of a years free membership for the person who recruits the most in a season??? |

Dan. Please ask your dad to send any photos to me. Jill has requested that all communication from the club goes through one person, i.e. me. Otherwise it can get out of hand. Luke. Interesting idea. I will raise it at the next Commercial committee meeting. Andy |

as far as I was aware you get a £5 bar voucher for every player you get down the club, stan is in charge of it I do believe. |

Chesham have been very successful with their flyers and advert signs and the sign that stood at the bottom of Copperkins lane for all of one season was very well received. Also the station one was good. It all highers the profile of the club otherwise other clubs wouldn`t do it. Re the Bucks Examiner Jill Menghetti is a good friend of ours and if we provide her by e mail the reports each week and photos, they will definitely always go in. |

I have always been a great believer in the saying 'Speculate to Accumulate'. Train station advertising is definitely the way forward. I for one can say that I have met players that have joined the club because they saw our posters at the Amersham train station. I would suggest posters are put up at local stations and if it costs a few thousand a year so be it as it's money well spent! New members joining the junior and senior club will soon out weigh any costs incurred with the increase of subscriptions and bar takings. This club needs to get serious on these issues and we must stop pussy footing around. ps. Stan - the club owes me quite a few £5 bar vouchers |
