Chiltern Colts in uncompromising form. Amersham and Chiltern Colts 39
After fielding an understrength side for most of the season, Chiltern colts were back to their magnificent best at Weedon Lane ,Sunday 16/12/07.Defeating high flying Reading 39/12 in this BBO league division one encounter, was just what everyone needed for Christmas. A rampant forward display complemented by a devastating performance from the backs, saw Chiltern score 7 tries including a first ever hatrick for young winger Alexis Ellender and tries for Josh Davies, Fraser Clarke, Chris Jackson and captain Will Reynolds, two converted by Josh Davies. Playing the normal 10 Craig Foster at centre proved a brilliant move as his superb cutout pass directly led to two tries. Several of the colts were back from University and it was Chris Jackson who provided the try of the match, with a line of running that would have graced the European Cup. But the ball had to be won by the forwards and there were outstanding displays from James Hallworth ,Chris Morrison and Kit Walshaw in the front row . The game drew to a close, with the second row Tom Cottrell catching the restart ,and gloriously galloping up the field, brushing aside the defence before, unselfishly, passing to his skipper and number 8 , Will Reynolds, Squad Luke Antos,Tom Cottrell, Danny Samuels, Rob Smalley, Alexis Ellender, Craig Foster, Will Reynolds ( capt ), Fraser Clarke, Jack Claridge, Dan Crehan, Jamie Crockett, Josh Davies, James Hallworth, Jon Holmes, Tom Hylton, Chris Jackson, Chris Morrisson, Matt Polley, Charlie Wilton, Laurent Duplix, Kit Walshaw.
The team were given a great warm up by former Chiltern under 14 player Matt Allen, who has rejoined the club having reached the top, playing Premiership rugby with London Irish. It is great that Matt wants to pass on his sublime skills to the younger lads.
