New Head Coach announced by Chairman of Rugby

“I am delighted to let you know that the club has secured the services of Richie Williams as A&C Head Coach for next season. Richie's rugby CV is below but in short he is a Level 3 RFU coach currently coaching Antwerp in Belgium, the Belgian Women's 7s squad and the England U20s squad.

He has played top class rugby in Wales and played for Chinnor and was their backs coach working with Jason Bowers. He comes highly recommended and I am sure will be a huge asset to Amersham & Chiltern going forward.

He will be starting with us for pre-season in July and will work  with Gibo, Jason, Dave Neale and Jonny Hutchings covering senior coaching. I know you will make him feel really welcome as we look forward to continuing the Club's progress.”

Charles Owen-Conway
Chairman of Rugby

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my excitement and enthusiasm about starting the next chapter of my coaching career. I am grateful to the committee at Amersham & Chiltern for showing confidence in my ability and I am already looking forward to repaying that loyalty.

I will be moving back to the area after a two year sabbatical in Belgium where I am now proficient in making ‘world class’ waffles and eating fries with mayonnaise. Jason Bowers already has the recipe! On a more serious note, one of my main roles will be to build on the success of last season and continue to work with a talented and dedicated coaching and management team. Craig Burgess is leaving the club in a good place and I would like to thank him for all of his efforts over the past few seasons.

Next year will be an exciting one for the club moving across to the National 3 London & SE league. It will provide us with some new challenges but at the same time reduce our travelling times. As a management team we are already working tirelessly in hope of creating a powerful squad of players that will allow us to compete at the top end of Level 5 rugby.

I look forward to meeting you all over the summer in what will be an ‘enjoyable’ pre-season together.”

Yours in rugby,
Richie Williams
