An update on what's happening...

Dear A&C members

In a recent club newsletter, we let you know that we plan to raise and invest a significant sum of money in resurfacing the main car park, to make it suitable for training in poor weather conditions as well as making the clubhouse a more attractive venue for events.

You will also have noticed that your membership fee has increased FOR THE 2016/17 SEASON ONLY - the additional money generated by subscriptions has been put specifically into the car park fund.

We will be fundraising during the coming year until we have completely covered the cost of what we believe is an essential project to enable the club to maximise the use of its facilities, for members and non-members alike. We are already well on our way, so thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

At the AGM in July, we discussed not only the plans for the car park but also our intention to apply for charitable status for the club. We had hoped to begin the first phase of work on the car park over the summer; however, it became clear that we would gain a significant financial advantage if we wait until we are a charity before the project begins. It is therefore now our intention to wait until the process of becoming a charity has been completed before the contractors start work.

At present, we anticipate achieving charitable status around the beginning of November, and that construction will begin shortly after Bonfire Night celebrations at the club.

If you have any questions, if you’d like to make a contribution towards the project or if you have any fundraising ideas, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely,
Spike Stevens, A&C Chairman
Peter Osborne, A&C President
