We had a few incidents last year regarding this area and wanted to remind you why it is increasingly important that we keep to Rugby’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS). These are what make our game special for those who enjoy the environment and culture they create. They define the game and define England Rugby.

Professional players very rarely give referees ‘backchat’ and towards the end of last year James Davies from Scarlets was suspended for three weeks and issued a grovelling apology to a referee for swearing. Let’s make sure we instill a culture at Amersham & Chiltern which we all would expect and be proud of from playing/watching rugby at Weedon Lane.

Please can I ask all players, coaches, spectators, parents and guests to take on board TREDS and if parents could explain the importance of these values to their child. Could we remember that all coaches and referees are volunteers, they are doing their best and are human beings. When watching or playing, please ensure you keep to these values.

If there is any concern regarding the behaviour of an individual, please could you speak with any of us and we will then take the necessary steps to address the issue.
