Next year, we are embarking upon a unique occasion - a first ever ‘Club Tour’ to Arnhem. On the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem...

...we will be paying tribute to Lt Jack Grayburn VC, a former Chiltern RFC First XV player. In command of No.2 Platoon, “A” Company, 2nd Parachute Battalion, he was one of the few fighting desperately on Arnhem Bridge itself. For his valiant service he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross.

We have challenged our friends at Arnhem Rugby Club “The Pigs” to three matches - senior A&C XV, Chiltern 100s (vets over 35) and Under 15. Our teams will be organised by Dave Neale, Mike Griffiths and David Choules respectively - with rolling subs so as many can play as wish.

We travel by coach, through the tunnel and up the same road to Arnhem via Nijmegen as British XXX Corps tried in vain to reach Arnhem in time. We will stay in two central hotels and U15 just outside town. Arnhem city centre is full of bars, clubs and restaurants many around lively Korenmarkt. We have booked a certain numbers of twin rooms which will be allocated in strict order of receipt of deposits.

We anticipate that £200 per head will cover most if not all costs. Each of the three groups will have their own kitty so will pay fairly for what they spend. The tour is open to all club members, both as players or supporters.

Send your £100 deposit NOW to confirm your place on tour - download the official tour invitation and instructions below.

Best regards,
Peter Osborne (President), Ross Thomson (organiser)
