Dear Member

We are more than half way through the season and once again our teams are performing well at all ages and levels. Our First XV won the County Cup and is doing well in the National Leagues and throughout the Club results are good. Every Junior team has reached the Semi Final of the Bucks Cup and well over 400 Minis are now playing every Sunday. Our Chairman Richard Bobbett and his outstanding committee of volunteers work tirelessly on your behalf. And let’s not forget that these are all busy people with full time jobs and family commitments.

Constant activity on our pitches and in the clubhouse takes its toll. Our pitches are holding up well in spite of all the rain because of the pitch drainage systems under our two main pitches. So thanks again to those who contributed to the borehole which allowed us to water in the new pitches in the dry summer. Because of this our First XV pitch was playable from the start of the season. Now the new drains have allowed us to play matches that otherwise would have been cancelled, with an obvious knock on effect to the finances of the club.

We now need to turn our attention to the clubhouse which needs some maintenance, new floor tiles, and painting and decorating. We are keen to get more people to the Club, and of course more bookings from members and from outside users. We have made some changes to the catering and have just installed a new HD media system for the big screen. We have Sky and BT so you can see every televised game at the Club. Future capital projects include a tarmac car park and further down the road the extension to the clubhouse that will allow us to create a proper gym.

In the short term we plan to cut our energy costs and install solar panels on the roof of the clubhouse, which will produce an immediate benefit and in the medium term generate significant profits as we sell our excess power to the National Grid. To pay for this we are launching a Capital Project Bond. This is a simple scheme. Each bond is £500, and is repaid annually by way of £100 credit to your membership card every year for seven years. You can have as many bonds as you like.

Donations would also be very welcome, gift aided of course, which helps us and tax payers enormously. Let me know without delay if you would like to participate in this excellent scheme. The sooner it happens the sooner your club gets the benefits.

With best wishes
