Many congratulations to Amersham & Chiltern’s Giles Westgarth...

...who has just made it through to the South West squad and is scheduled for an England Under 18 Development Camp/Trial in February 2014.

He has been with the club through Minis and Juniors, from Under 8 to Under 18, and under the guidance of Tim Cutter as coach through all those years.

Tim said of Giles... "The whole A&C Colts squad is hugely proud of Giles' achievement and always grateful for his contributions both under floodlights on Wednesday nights and on match days. His dedication to the game has seen him flourish from a raw development player just a few seasons ago to a player with talent that puts him along side the best in the country. This is remarkable given that he plays virtually no school rugby.

He has played in the second row and more recently as loosehead prop for the Colts, but his preferred position is blind-side flanker where he has featured in County and South West divisional trials. His stand out performances for Bucks against Somerset and then against a very physical Cornwall side last month were very impressive. He has played at 6 for senior teams in the 2nd and 3rd XVs. His physical presence and ball carrying skills are powerful assets and these have gradually got better and better over recent years. These qualities have been noticed by county and divisional selectors and we all trust that the England selectors are similarly impressed. Good Luck big fella!"
