Under 16s win in Bucks Cup

Under 16s win in Bucks Cup by beating Buckingham 17 - 5

A professional winning performance by Chiltern was the reward for the new sponsor of the side – Clarks of Amersham who have generously supplied the Under 16s with two sets of kit.

The much anticipated North vs South Bucks Cup Quarter Final clash between an improving side from Chiltern playing against a strong side from Buckingham.

Buckingham had won most of their matches this season and arrived in confident mood, however a rapid back move from Chiltern directly from the kick off resulted in 5 points for the home side.

Chiltern continued to enjoy much of the territory with most of the first half being played with Buckingham on the back foot. Errors from Chiltern and strong defence from Buckingham ensured that the match was in the balance at half time with Chiltern ahead 10 – 0.

The second half continued with the same high quality of Rugby being played by both sides. Chiltern remained on the front foot and in the middle of the second half were awarded two scrums on the five meter line. A planned backs move from the second scrum resulted in the centre cutting back inside to cross for five points which were converted – Chiltern had then established a strong 17 – 0 lead.

To the credit of Buckingham their forwards would not sit down and carried the ball forward ins a succession of drives, they found themselves with a 5 meter  penalty which was quickly taken – the ball was passed to the backs and a well worked try was taken by the outside centre.

This was to remain the last action of the game with Chiltern running out 17 – 5 victors.
