Match day Managers

Match Day Managers

We are looking for volunteers from past players to act as Match Day Managers for the 2s and 3s for the 2008/09 season. We are not looking for individuals to carry out the role all season but to offer to do a number of Saturdays during the season. It may be that a couple of you would be prepared to jointly do the role for a number of Saturdays. We are also looking for someone to support the current 1st Team manager.

The role is to assist the captain in running the team for that match, including:

          General

·        Help with contacting players during the week if the captain requires it.

·        Ensuring First Aid bag is fully stocked and available along with water bottles, team kit and balls

Home Games

        ·        Arrange for the post protectors and flags to be in place before kick off
         ·        Ensure all kit is in Changing Room, including Match Balls

·        Completing the match card (league games only) and getting it signed by the opposition and referee.

·        Running touch (if you are up to it) or arranging for a touch judge.

·        Arrange for someone to be available to take on water and or First Aid kit.

·        Taking availability for the next match

·        Ensure post protectors and flags are taken down and returned to their correct storage container. After end of match

·        Making sure the players put their shirts the right way round and place in the kit bag.

·        For home games making sure the result is phoned in before 5.30pm.

·        Ensuring match card is posted by Monday at the latest.

     Away Games
       ·        Ensure all players have arrived and have transport to the match venue

·        Arrange for all kit to be transported to the match venue and placed in the correct changing room

·        Completing the match card (league games only) and getting it signed by the opposition and referee.

·        Running touch (if you are up to it) or arranging for a touch judge.

·        Arrange for someone to be available to take on water and or First Aid kit.

·        Taking availability for the next match

·        Ensure that all kit is transported back to the club and stored in the correct location

·        Ensuring match card is posted by Monday at the latest.

You will not be expected to do all of the above but help the captain in anyway you can. Unlike when we played often by the time the captain has completed the above tasks and got into the bar a number of players will have already left and their availability not known. This has often resulted in scrambling round for players late Friday. Despite supporters often saying we do not have enough players over 110 players played for the first 3 teams last season. It is our organization which needs improving and this initiative hopefully will help address the issue.

Another benefit will be the past players will get to know some of the younger players and be able to help with their development.

If you are willing to volunteer please contact me on 07771 844461 email: tim.stickland@yahoo.co.uk or Stan Griffiths on 01494 722074 email: stan_griffiths@hotmail.com

Or come along to the Club on Thursday 11th September at 20.00 to discuss volunteering

We are also looking for volunteers to help with other areas of the club

Best Regards
