Colts beat Beaconsfield in Bucks Cup

Bucks Cup Semi-Final - Colts

Beaconsfield 12: Amersham & Chiltern 19

Amersham & Chiltern's Colts, defeated a heavily reinforced Beaconsfield Colts' side,in monsoon conditions ,on the Beaconsfield slopes.

The dreadful weather had meant that only one of Beaconsfield's pitches was playable, the one with the serious slope. Both sides were very anxious to play this match however ,and the match got under way with Chiltern playing downhill and with the gusty wind.
This was used to great effect to keep pinning the Beacs side back ,with Josh Davies exploiting his ally from the heavens. The Chiltern side were then encamped on the Beacs line for twenty minutes, with drive after drive being repulsed by some excellent defending. Eventually though, the sheer strength of the Chiltern forwards told ,and Chris Morrison, the hooker/prop burrowed over in excellent style. Josh Davies converted. This was followed by a typical reverse angled run by the inimitable Chris Jackson. He cut through the swathe of Beacs defenders for a superb try, not converted as the wind was swirling. The forwards were still enjoying a huge engagement, and it was from one of these that Ed Jones drove over for Chiltern's third try, converted by Josh Davies. 19/0 up then at half time but with the dreaded slope and wind against them now.

The Chiltern side immediately took the fight up the hill to the opposition. This shocked them, as in the stamina sapping conditions it took an immense effort. Danny Samuels, the skipper led the side with relish, and there was no slackening. Beacs used the wind with great accuracy, but the Chiltern team fought back all the time, defending with the same courage Beacs had shown earlier. In the end Beacs managed to score a converted try somewhat fortuitously, and in the last minute another consolation effort to finish with 12 points. The referee congratulated both teams on a brilliant game,a sentiment the large and wet crowd agreed with.
